Linux vs. Windows

When using Linux it was very similar to windows in the way it looked and operated, unlike a mac which is very different. Excel/Word and office loked very similar except that it seemed like Linux was going for more of a simpler feel than windows. Linux looked like it just tried to give you the essentials for the program, the easiest way possible, and windows looked a bit more cluttered in comparison. Although i did notice that Linux did not allow me to create a screen shot for some reason, im not sure if its the Linux or the program. People would use Linux because it does not receive nearly as much spyware, adware, or viruses. This problem with viruses, adware, and spyware have plagued Windows since it has been around, but i am used to using windows and dont think i would change to Linux even though it is very similar.

CIS Gaming

The difficulty with original online gaming is lag. Lag is when your processor can not process all the data at the speed it needs to. Another issue is cheating on games. The person will create an unfair advantage. With bandwidth you can play online games with anyone across the world. With connection to the internet gaming systems have made it possible for you to download old arcade games or download demo games before the game is released. Most games are made for men from 15-24 so that greatly limits the number of online women gamers. There are a good number of system players but the extreme of PC gamers is typical higher. Online gaming is very popular now by the system available and the large number of people that enjoy playing them.

How to Use Movie Maker

This is a podcast about how easy it is to use Windows Movie Maker. It is relatively short and self-explanatory. Feel free to ask any questions. I posted it because I'm trying to determine if there's a problem with their RSS feed.

I found free wireless internet access in South Station in Boston when I was on my train ride to Rhode Island. Also on the bus ride into Boston, I found unsecured and some secured wireless signals from homes in the area. The name was for the signal was free public Wi-Fi access and it had a strong connection for the time that the train was in the station near the signal, and it continued to cut in and out as the train moved. (22DFC7CF3B181F3D)There was no WEP key required all I had to do was click to connect to the signal and it did it. I think that it was free because it is such a public area in which a lot of business is probably done, therefore it is essential for the area to have an internet connection. In this case it was ok to have an unsecure connection so many people can connect to the network for free and without hassle. Public places that provide WIFI can have an unsecured network because their purpose is to let many people to connect to it. I think they might provide free WIFI because they can attract more of a customer base and especially a customer base that is in the business community and most likely has a decent amount of money to spend on their product. It was not a private home it was a public connection. But I did pick up a wireless home connection and this family really should secure their network as to get a connection distorted by other people. Now that I have found free WIFI I can connect and surf the internet for free. I can check my mail, researched things and surf the web. This is all to the expense of someone else so it is useful because the internet is something almost essential in today’s society and I am getting to use it for free.

1) I went to Pizzeria Regina’s, in Boston in order to find free wireless.
2) The name of the SSID I connected to was “gnaritas” and its number was 001310A9D329.
3) WEP key was not required for connection this address.
4) The connection was probably free because it was a household connection, and the people probably didn’t know that they were giving away free wireless.
5) It ok to have unconnected when you or your business is trying to make it an attraction. When you offer it in order to attract people to your business.
6) When a business provides free wireless, they do so in order to attract more customers that enjoy the option of being able to have free wireless connection while they are there.
7) My findings suggest that this family probably didn’t know they were giving away free wireless. If they knew they probably would not leave it unprotected.
8) A useful thing that you would be able to do with free wireless, is having the luxury to be able find free wireless anywhere you go, so you never have to worry about being connected to the internet.

War Driving

Where did you find free wireless access?
I found free wireless in theparking lot of a Stop & Shop Supermarket in Reading, MA.

What is the name of the SSID of the network you are connecting to?
stopandshop

Was a WEP key is required or not (if so, how did you find it?)
No WEP key was required.

Why is it free?
It is free for customers to use while taking a break from shopping.

When do you think it is ok to have an unsecured network?
It is okay to have an unsecured network when a business is using it to market to their

customers and are trying to increase sales by offereing WiFi.

If it is a business that provides free wifi, why do you suppose they do?
I suppose they provide wireless internet to increase sales and to try to encourage customers

to shop at thier specific store.

If it is a private home whose wireless you are connecting to, what do your findings suggest?
N/A

Now that you found free wifi on the go, what useful things can you do with it?
It is easy to access the internet and from their you can do anything that you would normally

do on the internet at your own convenience.

Post and interpret the information on your screen shot.

The picture above is a screen shot from NetWork stumbler that shows the conncectivity of the wireless connection obtained at Stop & Shop.
