War Driving

I found free wireless internet access in South Station in Boston when I was on my train ride to Rhode Island. Also on the bus ride into Boston I found unsecured and some secured wireless signals from homes in the area. The name was free public wi-fi access and it had a strong connection for the time that the train was in the station near the signal, and it continued to cut in and out as the train moved. (22DFC7CF3B181F3D) There was no WEP key required all I had to do was click to connect to the signal and it did it. I think that it was free because it is such a public area in which a lot of business is probably done, therefore it is essential for the area to have an internet connection. In this case it was ok to have an unsecure connection so many people can connect to the network for free and without hassle. Public places that provide WIFI can have an unsecured network because their purpose is to let many people to connect to it. I think they might provide free WIFI because they can attract more of a customer base and especially a customer base that is in the business community and most likely has a decent amount of money to spend on their product. It was not a private home it was a public connection. But I did pick up a wireless home connection and this family really should secure their network as to get a connection distorted by other people. Now that I have found free WIFI I can connect and surf the internet for free. I can check my mail, researched things and surf the web. This is all to the expense of someone else so it is useful because the internet is something almost essential in today’s society and I am getting to use it for free.
